Re: log: bar with no name, Red & Noir
If Marta had known more about Hannah, about how she was discovering herself and how she fit as a part of or separate from Amy, she might have said how noticing things about yourself was something that didn't just happen to AIs. That she, Marta, did enough of that herself, and she'd been human her whole life. She'd made it through at least 20 years (plus a few more), and she was still trying to figure herself out. Even sitting next to Hannah, knowing that they'd met because Marta had agreed to let an unknown woman go down on her at a party... it wasn't something that she'd thought of herself. But she was also glad that they'd managed to work out a meeting. There was something she already liked about being around Hannah (not in a way that would likely lead to a repeat of the party, but something that felt comfortable - a sort of knowing and maybe being known). "I don't like saying I need things because... I don't feel like I do need things. But I guess that's not really right either."
She nodded. "Kind of. I sort of had to because of ...police stuff." She wasn't quite ready to admit to everything involved, but anyone doing sex work knew that the cops could be an issue, even though Repose boasted whatever agreement that allowed Hookerville to exist. "Do you like it?" She knew that some people did. That it was a choice, instead of something they landed in because they didn't see another road forward. "I work at Live and Breathe. The oxygen and light bar?" Her tone tipped up, because she still wasn't certain how many people really knew about it in town. "...I think people judge a lot, even when they shouldn't." She was guilty of it too sometimes. She thought everyone was at some point. Though Hannah seemed like maybe she didn't as much as must people.
Surprise was a mild way to put it. There was a gap in her mind that Hannah's statements fell into. It wasn't the sort of gap brought on by too many chemicals, but by just not understanding. Not having the experience to process it. She was also unused to casual physicality, and Hannah's outreach made her jolt a little and blink again. She didn't pull away though - Hannah had already proven herself in a way that Marta could accept as 'not dangerous'. And though she hadn't admitted it to herself, maybe she missed being touched - in any way, but especially in ways that didn't hurt or require at least some level of nudity. "I like yours though. Red isn't common. And it suits you."
