Re: log: bar with no name, Red & Noir
There was no way that Hannah would've known about any connection Marta might have with The Bar. Even if they'd known each other at the party, she wasn't sure that she'd told anyone that its owner and the man woven so tightly into her past were the same person. But taking him out of the equation, their surroundings were familiar to Marta too. The memories of being onstage under the lights, moving to the heavy bass that sometimes, when the volume was turned up, drowned out even the words to the music. There was a canyon between that past-her and the present-her, but those memories still lingered.
And Marta would've understood. The filth over silk. She wasn't exactly decked out in the highest fashion either. And she got more than enough of those lectures too.
None of that was on her mind as Hannah made herself at home on the neighboring stool though. There were thoughts about how tall Hannah seemed and a few about the night at the party that almost made her blush. "I don't think anyone's ever said my name suited me. You seem like a Hannah though." A little nod, and then she was looking down at herself. "Yeah..." That it had been pointed out made her shift her weight on the barstool. "I don't always, but I thought... y'know, it'd help you find me." Not that there were many other women currently in the place, other than up under the stage lights. Lights that would probably make Hannah's hair look even redder, and that made Marta smile as she nodded a little. "I think it's close enough, yeah."
As the other woman ordered, Marta took a sip of her own coke (rum free) and rubbed her thumb against the slight beading of condensation. In another month or two, it would likely be darkening the leg of her already-dark jeans with dripping from the outside of the glass.
It wasn't overly crowded, so it didn't take long for Hannah's order to be filled and for her attention to return to Marta. She turned so that she could set her soda down, and then folded her fingers together. "You did too. ...did you think I wouldn't?"
