Crust & Crumb: Leena and [Open] Who: Leena and [Open to Any] What: A snack, maybe conversation Where: Crust and Crumb When: Sunday, mid-afternoon Warnings/Rating: Probably not?
Decision one: there were two weeks left of pills left in her bottle. A lot of Google had provided the names of the pills and further explorations had provided why. Leena didn't want to find out what would happen if they weren't refilled, which left only a question of how. Like she'd told Claire, it wasn't about pain, or something she could go to an ER doc for. Which left two options: finding a new doc that could prescribe for her, or taking matters into her own hands and breaking in somewhere to get them. One was a short term, immediate solution. The other would take longer but hopefully last longer. But the long term would require opening up to someone and - yeah, that was about as alluring as revisiting the things she couldn't remember.
Decision two: to revisit or not. There were too many things on either side of that decision, too many options and what ifs to be made on an empty stomach -
Which brought her to decision three. Cookies or muffin? A splurge could get her both from C&C -- mmm, chocolate fudge cookiesand carrot muffins -- and that was the easiest decision she had to make at the counter of the warm, cozy bakery. She pulled a few rumpled, accordioned dollars out of the pocket of her jeans -- second hand, from the thrift store, not anywhere close to designer -- and waited in a rare show of patience. The goodies were delivered on a pristine white plate - in infinitely better shape than the dented camp tins she used in her cave, and thus a treat all on its own - and she carried them off to a table, out of the way but with a clear sight line to the front door. It took her a moment, and a quick look around at few other people sitting at tables inside the bakery before she shrugged out of her oversized army surplus jacket (also courtesy of the thrift store) and settling in.
