Re: Hannah & Jeremiah; Jester's Court
He let her keep his hands, didn't pull away from her touch because it was something he needed. He'd always needed touch and one of the most difficult things that he'd had to deal with being here and on his own, was not having that touch. It had come naturally before in his occupation, in the parties and bars he'd waltzed in and out of, and his entire life had been more full of people than it was here. Hannah had been one of the first people who had broken that barrier here. Maybe it was he was here now, he didn't want to over-think it.
There was a beat as he considered - it wasn't that he didn't trust her at all, but who had access to everything, and it was the first time he'd ever paused before saying something. And then he realized that he wasn't certain it mattered. If she knew, if someone else learned, if it came back tumbling in somehow, some sort of legal liability, would it matter? If his father's money couldn't get him out of it this time, wouldn't that be deserved?
"In a way," he looked straight up into her eyes uncertain if he'd see the moment where her opinion of him might change. "Not directly, but did it impact? probably."
Her words did help, though, and there was some relief in seeing her take it like this.
