Re: Hannah & Jeremiah; Jester's Court
Keeping his attention on Hannah meant that he could ignore, for the immediate moment, the strange feeling of walking into someplace that had once been full of noise and life and fun and laughter, and was now full of drafts, and small animals, trash, rustling noises in the undergrowth, or from a loose window shaking in the wind. It could have been eerie, and it would have been a lie to say that he didn't feel any of that, but he was here for Hannah.
She'd asked, and he'd showed up, and there was something that he was beginning to realize that he would do that over and over again - glad to do it - if she needed a companion, or distraction, or adventure, or silence.
Even if it was possible it was not the wisest idea. If they were caught by police, he was reasonably certain it would be a terrible idea for him anyway. Probably no one was supposed to be here. Probably it was loitering on Public Property. At one point that might not have been a big deal, but now - well, he had the changed ID name, so perhaps it would be fine. But he didn't think of that, not for any length of time, because Hannah had asked, and she needed this: the risk was more than worth it to him.
He allowed himself to be tugged in, as if by a heroine in a book or one of his many romantic comedies he hadn't quite mastered the ability to write himself, and he smiled, stepping twice to catch up with her, to wrap his arm around her and pull her closer. "Then we'll ride a roller coaster," he told her. "Or we'll dance with ghosts, or for one whole night, we'll exist among the once upon a times," he glanced up at the castle, dark, and a little foreboding. And then he sang, someone who had definitely had training once upon a time. "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem. But if I know you, I know what you'll do You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream." He let the verse linger into the night.
