Re: [Tandy & Holly: the good diner]
Holly watched Tandy eat the fries he shoved away, and it reminded him that the guy was probably broke. Here-Tandy probably had her money stashed in a lockbox under a tree in an orchard or something, because she'd totally seemed like the type that would absolutely not trust FDIC. Now, let it be said that Holly was way into his money. He'd been into his money since the age of eight, when he'd had to pay the first of his dad's bills with, well, nothing. But, noted. He was currently in the red, and he needed to seriously up his work to get out of the red, but... noted.
"I'm not worried about anything, but I'm prepared for anything," he said. Okay, not entirely true, but he deadpanned it like reality. "Staying here is more convenient for me." Also true, not a lie, but he didn't offer the commentary with tears or terror. "There's nothing indicating anything is a magnet. You kinda really like just jumping to conclusions, Tandy. I mean, once you look around this place you'll realize that everything here is crazy, and if you wanted to? You could probably put thumbtacks on your wall and connect every weird thing to every other weird thing. It's just a place where weird shit happens." Which was, actually, entirely true. "That means other people might end up here, but it doesn't mean we're necessarily interrelated. The only real common denominator is Repose."
But everyone had stuff, right? "Okay, why don't you have stuff here and there, and how do you even know that?" Holly looked at him with dark brown eyes, curiously. "Do you, like, know her stuff?"
He didn't actually trust the meet-up with Travis to be just a meet-up, but that was because he knew how badly Travis wanted back. But, again, he didn't actually see where Travis would be able to accomplish anything, so, yeah, he pulled more money from his pocket, and he put it down. "I got this," he said, with uncharacteristic generosity. He also slipped a $50 toward the guy. "It's all I have on me, but take it. Noah helped me out when I ended up here, so I guess we call this paying it forward."
