Re: [Tandy & Holly: the good diner]
Holly knew Tandy's dad had died, right? Tandy knew about his mom, but they'd never had, like, talks about it. He assumed it was just being sick, since back home people didn't die of weird things, not like here. He hadn't gotten to talk to this Tandy, the girl, long enough to know what her story was, right? But he assumed she had one. Everyone here had a story, and he had lived in a kinda idyllic and mundane place. Not that everything was happy, because his life hadn't been sunshine and roses, okay? But there weren't fangs and wolves and facilities. Even thinking about the facility made him lose his appetite, and he pushed what remained of his fries away.
So, right. Onward. "I'm happier here." It wasn't a lie. I mean, it was more complicated than that, right? "That doesn't mean shit here is good, but I don't want to go back, either." Did that have everything to do with Noah? Yep, and maybe that was youthful and myopic, a willingness to exchange all the safe and known for one person, but, yeah. "But, okay, you said you have no compulsion to go back. Do you have a compulsion to stay? I mean, it sounds like you mostly don't give a shit, which is weird. What about your friends back there? Your stuff?" Holly was materialistic, and stuff mattered to him.
But as for being prepared, he knew that statement was true, right? Not just of Tandy switching genders, but of being yanked away. "So, do you have a plan at all? I mean, Travis wants to find a way. Do you guys have anything planned?" He put a few bills on the table, but it wasn't generous by any means.
