Re: [Tandy & Holly: the good diner]
Holly was maybe an avoider, but more than that? He kinda liked to ignore the bad shit... once it was cataloged. But he liked to have all the pieces of the puzzle first, and this particular puzzle freaked him out in some major way, so he wanted answers. He'd wanted answers from Travis, and he wanted answers from Tandy. Travis wanted to go wandering in the woods, which Holly was pretty sure would net nothing, you know, since Travis hadn't come from the woods. He had no idea what Tandy wanted, but he was keen to find out. Holly was all about self-preservation, right? I mean, he'd liked Tandy a lot, but there were very few people Holly liked at the potential cost of his own skin. He'd never said he was a nice guy, right?
"We aren't even sure if we're talking about a common reality. They might just be similar. I don't know enough about you, and you don't know enough about me to be able to say, without a shadow of a doubt, that we're from the same place. I mean, I get wanting to find similarities and not be alone in what you're going through, but, yeah, you're alone. I'm alone. Travis is alone. The only similarity we can be absolutely sure of? Is that we think we don't belong here. That's literally, like, it. I didn't change genders, Travis wasn't awake, etc. I mean, let's not make assumptions that don't make sense here. I mean, why do you hate hospitals? That's a start. I don't remember my Tandy having hospital issues. What's with that?"
He dipped his own fry. "Your switching is relevant because you did. You're not even the same you. You're a completely different person. Different personality, different gender, different everything. That makes you different than me for sure, and it makes you different than Travis. Our thing was a one-way street. Yours isn't."
