Re: [Tandy & Holly: the good diner] Hello. Holly dipped his fries. They weren't smothered. He wasn't, like, the neatest guy in the world, but the only thing you smothered fries with was cheese, you know, in his estimation. I mean, you could squirt artful lines of ketchup on them, but smother? Nope. So, right, he just listened to Tandy's superior knowledge of condiments and potatoes, and he considered broaching the subject of dipping said potato products in chocolate milkshakes, but, yeah, that might be too much, too soon.
So, onward.
"That was way too many unnecessary words. Tone down the academic hipster by, like, five." Holly had the hipster thing covered, and he could follow what Tandy was saying, but it was way convoluted. Tandy being convoluted was familiar too, but Holly wasn't the type of guy to jump to conclusions. Tandy's commentary was definitely taking things for granted that, like, didn't have any basis. "But, okay, going with what you said. We don't have enough for any working hypothesis. You, me, Travis, our situations are so crazily varied that we can't even find a common ground. Travis' coma thing means his method of transference isn't the same as your gender-flip, and I just showed up here, like, poof. We don't even have any reason to believe any of our situations are related. It might be individual stuff. Like, Travis may have some weird brain power that lets him travel while in a coma. Maybe he just took up space in that other Travis. Maybe you can shift genders with other versions of you. Those things, like, wouldn't be related at all. I think jumping to conclusions is bad news. Travis' change came, where? In the hospital? So are you just going to wander the hospital halls with him?"
Holly was the kinda guy to be cautious, right? I mean, he didn't mention the buzz, and Tandy didn't mention a buzz, so he assumed that was individual to him. Neither Tandy nor Travis had mentioned the woods, which also helped to solidify his belief that Repose, here, might just be a really fucking weird magnet, but that the three of them were independent aberrations. "I guess we'll find out more when you switch back. Assuming you switch back. You, her-you, can tell us about the rest of us still there, maybe. If Travis is still there, if I am, then we at least have something to go on."
