Re: Museum: Connor and Ragnar
"Everyone needs love," Ragnar replied. "Love and family are an important part of what inspires people to aim higher, no? To reach for more. Having someone to provide for.
His head tipped as he listened to Athelstan's description, as he told his story. It hurt even more, in a way, to know that someone had lured Athelstan away. And that Ragnar hadn't even noticed the changeling.
"I think-" Ragnar sucked in a breath and laughed at the stupid tears that had now decided to roll down his cheeks. "-if I had married you instead of Aslaug, Lagertha would have been a lot happier. She would have approved of our union." But he was a stupid, selfish man, and he wanted sons. He could have had just Bjorn, it would have been fine. Or perhaps Lagertha would have agreed to try for more sons eventually-
"What were they? These people? How did you-" Ragnar paused, because he was pretty sure if he shut up for a second Athelstan would tell him the rest of the story. So he lifted the fingers to his lips again, kissing the back of Athelstan's knuckles to give his mouth something to be preoccupied with. "Please continue," he murmured, not willing to part from the kiss just yet.
