Re: The forest: Derek F/Ragnar L
"And far less raiding," she noted. In some countries it still existed, but they were far fewer than they used to be. Now the hostility was saved for board rooms and Wall Street.
She was not a fan. Nor was she a fan of far off wars, in countries that would never seen, death and destruction delivered not even by humans, but by drones controlled by someone safely behind a screen. It had a different feeling when there was no safety, when this battle could be your last.
"But now we have computers and safety and supermarkets." There was no need to hunt when one could just walk down the block to get what one needed. But something was missing too. What if the supermarkets were gone? They would not have the skills to survive -- yet their people still had them. And now she wanted to make sure that Ragnar could still use them.
She turned to him, feeling no need to draw it out any further. "Someone from days long past is returning to you," she said as she edged the cart deeper into the forest, for the goats to slow enough for them to get closer to their quarry. "Keep to our ways, Ragnar. Not all of us are angry at you."
