Re: [Ren's apartment.]
She wouldn't be able to tell him how to be open. Open was something she was about everything, except the one thing she could never, ever be open about. But it was part of her, and she thought it was probably part of the numbers and gears and things that made her whir. She was Amy, but she was Amy with the programming of a thing made to please, for pleasure, and she kind of thought maybe openness came with that. One day, maybe, she could ask Si about that. She could ask how open Amy had really been, and maybe he could tell her how she was different from the girl that had spawned her, but, for now, all she could do was wonder and wonder, and all that wondering wouldn't help Ren at all.
He said he wasn't scared of using his powers, and she cocked her head, tilted ear to shoulder, question, question in her gaze. "I know you used them at the AI Fair, and you used them at the park, but you're still scared." She knew. She could see it in him. "Maybe not to use them, but what they mean and what you might do," she suggested. Her fingers were clutching at straws and grasping, trying to understand, but she wasn't worried about getting it wrong. It might lead him to the right answer, and sometimes things worked like that sometimes.
"Oh!" A character in a book, and how would she describe him, and she thought a few moments, not long, because she really didn't need to think for very long. "You're the protagonist, but you're kind of an anti-hero. You don't want to be involved, but you are, in heroics. You kind of want safe and quiet, or you tell yourself you do, because it's less trouble, safer. But you get drawn in, regardless, and you're a reluctant hero. You're quiet, observant and intelligent. You think a lot before you talk. You try to say the right thing, always. You're not really spontaneous or wild, and you kind of get a look sometimes that says you're far away, remembering dark thing. Maybe you're a little haunted, or you seem to be, like that dark hero that keeps things locked up inside. You get caught up in it sometimes, in whatever is going on inside you, and maybe you don't look outward as much. You keep your secrets, and you keep to yourself, even when you're laughing and in company. But, really? Really, really, you just want someone who knows everything. And despite being the anti-hero, you still rush in to save the day, even without the fanfare, not really wanting to, you still do it. And you're good at it. You're a good protagonist, Ren. You have a lot of dark in you, but that just makes you more appealing. You fight it, but it's there, there, there. It's just below the surface, waiting."
