Re: [The piano bar: Misha & Lucifer.]
Lucifer wasn't the type to be anyone's father. It had never been a question before, never a possibility. But he had enough self-awareness to know that the sort of personality needed to raise a child wasn't what he had. If Misha was looking for someone to step in and be a true father, he was going to end up disappointed by Lucifer in more ways than one. If that was what Misha was expecting, the relationship between them would falter and die even before it was truly born.
And if Lucifer had known just how 'frightened' the other angels seemed to be at him having helped to create another life, then they should have been petitioning his Father to keep it from happening. He wasn't one of the Fallen that had helped to father the nephilim, and for all his encounters over the ages, he'd never had to worry about an unexpected child as an outcome. Not until Numiel, and it shouldn't have been an issue then, either. Two angels, fallen or not, did not have the ability to conceive a new life. Unless, of course, He wanted them to. So if everyone Above had some issue with Misha existing, they needed to take that up with Him. As he had since his fall, Lucifer didn't care much about what anyone Above thought.
Misha's defense of a man who had abused him made Lucifer want to take the boy by the shoulders and shake until Misha realized that his foster father hadn't been a good man. But he had seen enough victims of abuse to know that any sort of argument against the man would leave Misha defending him. And he didn't want to hear that sort of defense. Not now, and likely not ever. He had two souls to track down, next time he went Below again.
"I'm not saying I'm not often busy, but I didn't know about you. I... like to think I'd have had at least some sort of presence in your life, if I'd known." It wasn't entirely easy to say - he was a fickle thing, and he knew it. But over the years of Misha's life, there would've likely been at least one or two points when Lucifer would've reached out. Maybe more. At this point, he was simply glad to have an opportunity to know, even if it was a painful level of awkwardness for both of them.
"For what?" He ended up asking. "The facility, not the thanks." Though he did think it a bit strange to be thanked for something like that simple statement. Watching the movement of Misha's fingers twirling the glass, he lifted his own and took a long draw of his drink.
