Re: [The piano bar: Misha & Lucifer.]
Maybe Misha's willingness to talk was due to someone willing to listen, but maybe it was also a little bit due to Lucifer doing what he could to push a sort of comfort between them. Nothing too much or manipulative, but a kind of calm and safety. It was a small thing, but whatever helped the words spill from Misha was more than small in his book.
The rustle of feathers only earned a blink from Lucifer, as he made mental note to possibly address that in the future. There were too many things out there that spent their entire existence trying to find angels - especially ones that might not know how to protect themselves. For as indestructible as Misha may have felt, especially now knowing his parentage, there was always someone or something that could cut its way through to cause harm. And there was no way that Lucifer would stand by to allow that at this point. The people he considered "his" - those he would protect with every thread of divinity stitched through him - was quickly growing. And Misha was now part of that, no matter if the boy wanted it or not.
It was what made Lucifer's face mask over as Misha talked about his foster father. It was true that for so much of the punishment Below, he was barely a part of it, everything being done by demons and by the guilt of the damned themselves. But there were certain transgressions that he put some of his own effort into the punishing of. In the moment of keeping his gaze matched with Misha's paler one, it was a struggle for him not to slip Below to find the man discussed. There was a flickerflame of orange within Lucifer's eyes, back deep in the darkness of pupil, that betrayed his desire for retribution on a man that dared lay hand on a child. On Lucifer's child, though the two of them had only just discovered it.
"Men in prison hold no affection for child abusers. It's not uncommon for them to find their end at the hands of other prisoners." He delivered that fact with a voice that had gone flat. "I'm very glad you failed." It was a sudden sort of statement that fell from his lips, and he actually blinked after voicing it.
