Re: Capital: Sam & Cris
She listened to him explain, yeah? About the tube and the feeding, and she was thinking about that tiny body beneath that pink blanket. She was kinda lost in thinking about that, and it took her a second to tip her head back against his belly, to look up at him - upside down - when he asked where he was gonna go. He tugged on her hair, and she didn't know she was making him feel bad, or she woulda tried to act different. But she was clueless, and so he got honest, yeah? "I was asking Evie if she loved her baby the first time she saw it, and she said no. You do, yeah? I wish I was more like you."
And, ok, logical there were probably a lot of reasons why she felt disconnected, but she didn't know about all that. She just felt bad, like she sucked MORE than she'd already sucked before. "I wasn't good pregnant, and I don't wanna mess up now too," she told him, but then he dipped, lips near her ear, and what he said made her smile genuine.
"Fuck the nurses," she said eager, turning a little to look at him better, lips against his cheek. "You're gonna be cold outside." She assumed that was where he was gonna take them, but maybe not. The world was starting to spin less, thanks to the chair, yeah? Which was nice too.
