Re: Mean-Eyed Cat: Cat/Em
Oh yes, you're ancient. [The words came with a twist to her mouth and a brightness in her eyes that betrayed her amusement, even if she did try to make her words flat and dry. It didn't quite work, and she knew it, but she was alright with her teasing being obvious. She went a little more serious again at the shift back to more important things.] It doesn't feel like it. Like there's parts of me all over and the edges don't match up.
[Her eyebrows inched up, and she tried to tease again.] Are there support groups? Should I be looking for other people trying to fit themselves together?
[A shake of her head, and a real smile, though it came a little smaller than the others.] That's all. Right. [She set her glass on the bar and nudged it back toward Cat.] One more, then, please. So I can still get up tomorrow and get to my interview. [And maybe, even if she stopped after one more, she'd stick around the bar for a little longer. It felt good to be out of the house and awake. Felt good to be talking to someone she considered a friend. Felt much better than she had when she'd walked through the door.]
