Re: Mean-Eyed Cat: Cat/Em
[She smiled at the scoff, chin still resting on her forearms.] There's a lot of little pieces left without that big one that's been there for so long, and me not knowing how they all fit anymore. And sometimes I wonder if that big piece left something behind and is going to keep everything else from fitting together right. [Her expression went a little skeptical of her own words, expression shifting into a frown that was laced with a little confusion.] Or... something like that.
[She shook her head, a strange back-and-forth roll as she didn't lift her head still.] No, it was easy once it was my job. Living is harder, and no one ever gives themselves enough credit for just making it through each day. [Insistent and a little philosophical.] I didn't really have much choice, and it was the same thing every day. It wasn't so much being someone as it was being a little part of a very big machine. Take this, do this, move onto the next. That's not the way people live. [The assessment was delivered with certainty. She didn't see it from the angle Cat did.] And now that's not there, and I'm... [Her shoulders shrugged awkwardly, a strange movement of her arms against the top of the bar.] You need more compliments, then. You're lovely.
