Re: Mean-Eyed Cat: Cat/Em
[Had Em been looking up, she would've seen Cat arch a perfectly manicured brow. Because that thing about Em and Eddie not being a couple? That was ludicrous. It was all she could do not to interrupt, to let Em get the rest of her words out, but Cat had practice in that these days. People drank slow, opened up slower, and she just kept pouring. And while she didn't add on more booze now, she did hold her tongue, her mossy gaze going obediently to that gauze'd hand.
Alright, then she scoffed.] You've been a couple for ages. Whatever you are now? Doesn't change what you've been.
[She was slightly too opinionated to make a perfect bartender, but everyone had their flaws. And this wasn't a regular customer. Cat cared about Em, and she cared about Eddie.] You aren't messy. Eddie just isn't as good at being a saving hero as he thinks he is, kitten. He wants you independent, competent, and the moment you aren't? [She lifted her shoulders. She loved the little green man, but she knew his shortcomings. She'd seen this happen with Stephanie, after all.]
So, you can either prove him wrong and let him go, or you can prove him wrong and win him back. Either way, you get you back. But needing the person you're with to care for you when things go wrong? That's normal, kitten. At least, I think it is. [She shook her head, and she looked down at her beer.] Robert, he was too much for me to care for. So, I understand Eddie a little, but it doesn't mean you did anything wrong. It means we're not built to take care of anyone but ourselves where we come from.
