Disappointment was always difficult to mask, and this was no different. She also had a sneaking suspicion that she had perhaps messed up somehow, but she listened to him explain and nodded along with his words. English would have to do.
Claire took a quick step aside when he reached over her, "Oh, I'm in your way. I'm so sorry." It certainly wasn't to stay out of the way of being bumped into. She was covered head to toe except for her face, and no sane person went around touching peoples' faces. But she did turn to look at what book he was getting, curiosity getting the better of respecting people's privacy.
"I'm from around town now. Isn't that what's important?" Smarmy, and paired with a shrug before she quickly asked a question to change the subject. "Can you tell me which of these you would consider light reading?" She quirked her lips into a smirk and raised her eyebrows in challenge, "Because I think you will be hard pressed to find one, sugar pop."
