Yes, see I am of the opinion that context is really key here. It could be about one person being a little more pushy and have the wrong-headed opinion that consent is a "grey area" or that person is trying to convince the other that society won't care. It could be that society is what's keeping the other person back.
When it was released, the original song was interpreted as a woman who wants to stay, but at the time it would be very unlady-like if she did. In our day and age, it's more likely that a woman would use excuses because saying no could get her murdered. That isn't to say the same thing wouldn't have happened back then, but it's more likely it's a song about a woman who wants to have consensual sex, but society would frown on it.
