Re: [Webster's Vinyl: Holly & Dietre]
Dietre's comment about not knowing he, Holly, and Noah were together? Not reassuring. He almost asked when the last time Dietre and Noah had spoken was, you know, because maybe it was before he and Noah had actually gotten together, but he didn't ask. Because, Holly? Was massively a pessimist, and he was afraid of the answer. So, right, he just got a little more internally catty, which kinda went well with Dietre's sulky pout over there. Holly didn't have the aid of pharmaceuticals to keep his emotions from showing on his face right now. He just kinda had a lifetime of being stoic or blank, and it made him feel some level of control not to show what he was feeling.
He just hoped Noah wasn't getting inundated with a deluge of jealousy, like, in class or something.
Dietre said he was chill, and Holly just gave him a nonplussed look and left it. Making the guy feel attacked? Wasn't actually on the agenda. Okay, so he was a minefield inside his gut right now, but he didn't actually want to explode.
The walk to the register was mildly calming, and Holly reminded himself of all the reasons why none of this was a surprise, right? Right. He even had contingencies in place. He wasn't rushing Dietre out or anything. It was just easier to put the records on the counter, right? They were delicate, and carrying them around was, like, not so great. Anyway, right, yeah, Gramps. He pointed at the door, where Webster's Vinyl was etched in the glass. "Gramps is Daniel Webster. I'm Holly Webster. Gramps owns the store." Which okay, kinda rubbed Holly wrong, but he didn't vocalize or illustrate that in any way, either.
