Re: [Webster's Vinyl: Holly & Dietre]
Dietre didn’t know if he was relieved by the assurance that Holly did not, in fact, hate Noah. He just nodded, listening, cautious. “I’m under the impression because he has not told me otherwise.” He supposed that if Holly officially told Noah to take a hike he would have heard about it, then again, that was sort of overestimating his own importance in Noah’s life. They barely knew each other, after all, but Dietre felt like he barely knew any of his friends. He was still uncertain whether he actually even had friends or if he just knew people who were too nice to say otherwise. He wasn’t close to anyone, and that pained him whenever he thought about it.
A shrug when asked if he wanted to listen to something else. The conversation they were having was distracting, it was difficult to pay proper attention to music when your brain was going in too many directions at once. “...I don’t know about having requirements, but you aren’t what I expected.” Maybe that saying about opposites attracting was true. Misha and Damian were certainly miles apart from one another, so perhaps he shouldn’t be so surprised at how different Holly seemed from Noah.
The new record was put on and Dietre quieted to listen. After the first few verses his lips thinned into a disapproving line. “Hn… the music is fine, but I don’t believe I like the sentiment behind the song much…” Love was painful, yes, but Dietre didn’t think people should hurt one another and then use being in love as an excuse. It didn’t sound like a healthy relationship, not that he really knew anything about relationships. Sigh.
