Re: leo/charlie - exploring
Not a speck of dust could be seen. Not a hedge out of place. Everything looked pristine, even more so than in her cookie-cutter suburban abode, and Charlie couldn’t hide the awe of the place if she tried. She’d never seen anything like this in real life beyond mock-ups of some rooms in art museums. Okay, so maybe he was Beyoncé rich. Jesus. She could start to get self-conscious about how he should be hanging out with someone closer to his tax bracket, but she didn’t allow it. The money? It didn’t matter. Leo had seen some of the worst of her — the chaos of her magic, the fact that she murdered her classmate — and he didn’t bat an eye. Well, maybe he batted one eye, but he stuck around after she nearly got him killed. Held her hand. Brought her out for a cheeseburger. That? Was what mattered.
Her hand reached out to touch the door as they passed through before she was knocked back once again by the size of the entrance hall. And the large statue at the center of it. Her hand flew up to try to suppress the surprised bubble of laughter. She was equally charmed and entertained by the over the top statue. “Please tell me he got this done and not you.” After a second, she sobered up and smiled up at the bronze face towering above them. “Hi, Leo’s dad. Don’t worry, I’ll try to take good care of him.”
Charlie stepped closer to Leo and looped her arm through the nook of his elbow, a tug accompanying the move. “Do you keep it around for him or for you?” An honest question with big blues looking up at him. Another tug if he didn’t answer right away before she moved away (in case he was uncomfortable). Another question popped into her mind. “You ever bring others here? Not for parties or conventions. Just to...see.”
