Re: [Orchard: Bea & Holly]
To her own surprise, Bea didn't react with fear or anger when Holly grabbed at her. She went stiff, a little, under his hands as he put pressure to make his point, but that was all. Her chin lifted and she looked up past his mouth, into his eyes, her own dark ones awash with quick instinctual calculations that read in the tiny muscles around her painted eyelashes. She had nothing to say to any of his previous defenses, though she stored away the involvement of 'Adrian' (obvious in her scowl). Her expression had turned downright mulish when he mentioned Noah, but to both their credit, it had not occurred to her that Noah and Holly would have had their... their thing back when she and Holly had been living their married dream in the Capital.
Now she just blinked into his fear and anger. Her forearms came up under his and her fingertips did a graceless little scrabble at his elbows. If anyone had asked she would not have been able to say what she'd been trying to do, break free or pull closer. He let her go before she even noticed what she was doing, and she was left feeling weirdly cold and alone. Again.
A moment. "Did they hurt you?" She tried to keep her voice very even.
