Re: AUDITIONS CHARACTER NAME: Bea Hardy ROLE WANTED: Amanda Wingfield WILL YOU PLAY ANY ROLE?: Yes PREVIOUS ACTING EXPERIENCE Bea talks readily about a few bit parts in community theatre in Orange County, California. She also had a walk-on part in the high school play her junior year, though she says it with a laugh.
Bea did some work before she came to the audition. She uses Amanda's monologue as her audition, and she memorized it plus the two pages following. Her delivery is good; the Southern accent... needs work. Her Amanda is far more bitter and critical than she really needs to be at this point in the play. Bea is obviously far too young for this part, but interestingly does not try out for Laura. She gamely says she'd be up for anything, however, after finishing, and you can't deny her charm as she thanks anyone there for their time. Her stage presence is big, and she meanders and pauses a bit too much, looking back at the director for feedback (though one could blame that both on inexperience and also lack of any other actors on the stage). Before she goes, she says, "Really, wouldn't everyone rather be Jim?"
