The dog was a chocolate lab, or at least she appeared to be that, although upon closer inspection someone who knew dogs would likely see that she was not a purebred lab at all. What she was, however, was friendly, and interested in the human that was digging around in the soil near the lake. That this interest had encouraged her to wander off from her human, well that was something her human ought to be used to by now.
Typically these morning walks did not run quite so far afield. Or, at least, Jeremiah had tended towards staying on his own property with the lab, and not wandering around. Although he'd also come to the conclusion that a lot of the mansions didn't have people living in them regularly, and also, he wasn't certain where land ended and land began and there was quite a bit of just woods and empty space - if by empty space you meant no homes. And so today he'd let Heart off her leash, trusting that she'd come back if it was required, although he was currently regretting that decision.
"Heart!"
His call pierced the morning air, and the dog's ears twitched but then she reached out a paw as if to hold it up for the human digging in the soil to shake. She was doing this when Jeremiah stepped out from behind some trees, and she didn't seem to feel that it was necessary to turn around at all when Jeremiah approached.
"Heart, you're supposed to stay with me, we'll have to do the leash next time -" there was a man there and Jeremiah blinked. Shit. Neighbors. "Shit I'm sorry, she's not bothered you has she?"
