I did wonder, of course, if this was what it was like to like women. If it simply was a sort of dearth. But, well, puberty fixed that misapprehension. I think Patrick fought hard to be 'normal,' and he might've convinced himself of it until—well, we'd our run in. Then he had to question everything about himself, which, I'm sure you know, is a frightening task.
