Re: BBQ: Damian, Leena, Misha & Sadie
Misha, he wasn't surprised none to see Damian glare at him 'bout the blankets. See, Misha, he'd known on tossing them blankets down that Damian was going to fuss 'bout it. Misha was a real mess when it came to being tidy, and Damian wasn't. Misha, he just stood, real entertained and giving the girls a wink as Damian set out the blankets just right and just so. He was easy here, real easy, and there wasn't even a hint of stress to the line of his shoulders. Once, he'd been real nervous 'round Leena, wanting her to like him and worried that, like the rest of her kin, she wouldn't. These days, them concerns weren't at the forefront. He didn't know her real yet, but he reckoned anyone who was good to Damian and Sadie like she was, that they were real fine in his book.
"You're real welcome," he said, responding to Leena's thanks 'bout the blanket. "And I'll take honey on that cornbread, and make no mistake." Honey cornbread and fresh heated in a skillet over fire, there wasn't much tastier than that. "This all looks real fine, Sadie," he added and plenty honest 'bout it too. "It's starting to get cool out, and we'll have fall soon and the grass will be too cold for sitting on, I reckon."
He watched brief a spell as the fire got itself going, and he watched as Sadie pulled things out in sealed bowls that were real neat. Misha, he didn't care a fig 'bout the neatness of them quilts, and he stepped right on out to the center, and he sat himself down. He reckoned it was good, Sadie and Leena over there working real close. They seemed at that stage of loving where they liked breathing the same air, on account of it being new and novel and happy-causing. So, he didn't go attempting to help none.
'Stead, he reached for his bag, and he pulled out his fiddle. He crossed his legs, and he set it aside, and then he waited for Damian to finish unpacking whatever he brung. Once that was done, and if Damian didn't take to going to help the girls more, Misha reached for the boy's shin, and he tugged. Sadie was asking Damian 'bout food, and Misha just tried to tug the boy to sitting 'longside him. If Damian sat, then Misha kissed his cheek 'fore he took himself to playing a real well known jig while the girls worked. And if Damian stayed still, Misha held the fiddle on over, in case Damian felt like playing something himself. Course, that came with 'nother kiss to the boy's cheek.
