Re: BBQ: Damian, Leena, Misha & Sadie
Misha, he tended to fluctuate in how he dressed. Sometimes, he wore real bright things, and sometimes he took to soft things. Sometimes, he took to skirts, and sometimes he took to being all boy, and today was one of them latter days. The muted colors, they didn't have no meaning, but he did reckon they all looked like little stormclouds, all excepting Sadie, and Sadie looked real bright and summer days. Or, course, with all that red hair, it could be said Sadie looked like autumn, but Misha reckoned it was a real sunny autumn.
Hugs went 'round, and Misha reached for the back of Damian's jacket and tugged the smaller boy back and near 'nough to sling his arm over Damian's shoulders. It put Damian all tucked up 'gainst him, but Misha didn't think a thing 'bout it. It was a real far cry from them days in Wainright Manor, when he hadn't even wanted to step too close, on account of worrying 'bout Damian's daddy being fussed. Now, Leena was teasing 'bout blankets, and Sadie was looking near to crying, and there wasn't no cause for it. "I'll run on back and fetch a blanket while y'all get things going," he offered. It would only take a few second some, and that way no one would need to go hunting for branches.
"I'm real looking forward to some of that cornbread of yours, and ain't neither of us going to go itching on account of some grass," he added to Sadie, and he wondered if she was feeling any better recent 'bout having left home. He had his own doubts 'bout going back home, but he reckoned he'd do it one of these days. He also remembered his promise 'bout finding Sadie's folks. He wasn't real certain if it was the time to bring that up, but he'd ask Damian 'bout it later. Damian, whose temple he kissed and whose curls he fluffed real brief, 'fore stepping away to go looking for that blanket.
He wouldn't go walking all the way back to the house. 'Stead, he'd just wait 'til he was out of sight 'tween trees, and a second later he was back with two big quilts, both picked up thrift and use months back, which he tossed on down for someone who did better than him to settle.
