Re: [Evans & Peel: Jack & Holly]
To Holly's American ears, the words were foreign. He was wasted enough not to be able to clearly infer meaning from context, so it was kinda like a foreign language. But he was also drunk enough to kinda just let it pass, because sometimes people spoke other languages. Not people in Repose, because people in Repose only spoke Repose, at least in his Repose, but he could concede that things might be different here. Things here were making, like, no sense, so why not have a bunch of people talking different languages? Sure.
He wasn't actually aware of what he was saying, either, and hopefully he just wouldn't remember after this. Not just because the mortification level would be Richter Scale unreadable, but because the sex for money thing was, like, just once, and he was the massive opposite of someone who slept around, despite his digital money-making antics. "I don't think I can go back. I don't know." He didn't know if he wanted to. Okay, he wanted to, but with caveats, maybe, and he absolutely knew it wasn't going to work that way. As for the military facility people, what he remembered of them was pretty awful, and what he didn't remember was worse. He was blissfully unaware that his entire loss of every person he'd ever known and everything he possessed was being considered less significant than other present woes. "I don't know, but he was a major ass over there." Which was an understatement, but Holly currently felt it conveyed things clearly. As for the sex thing, he narrowed his eyes just slightly. "It's good money." No mention of returning it. "I guess that makes me a whore, but, whatever, I'm in control. I'm controlling it. Anyway, I do cam work, and it's like the same thing." Which he absolutely didn't believe. "He knew a version of me here, and he says he wasn't into him, but it was kinda a close relationship."
He finished his glass, and he pushed it forward. "I don't expect you to freebie me again, but what was it so I can get another?" he asked. Jack was saying he was like dad, and Holly just looked at him with dazed eyes. "My dad was too. A drunk. It killed him, so maybe be careful." Too blunt? He didn't realize if it was.
