Re: Live and Breathe: Derek / Marta
It still took a bit for Marta's eyes to adjust, and the fact that the woman was backlit by the brightest thing in the rooms didn't help any. The woman's voice was bright and friendly though, even though Marta wasn't quite used to such things, and she managed a polite little smile, and probably very clearly communicated her uncertainty about this new job and new boss. She'd had decent luck with Dahl though, so maybe having a woman for a boss was the key.
The woman's shoes rapped on the hard floor, and either the lights went up a bit or her eyes were finally adjusting, because it was easier now to see who was walking towards her. The woman (Derek, she introduced herself, and that was a bit of a strange name - though the town had its fair share, she supposed) was gorgeous, and Marta wondered if everyone she ended up meeting in repose was going to be that way. If she was being compared to flowers, she definitely was feeling like the wilty blade of grass that needed to get pulled from the garden of prize-winning blooms.
She looked at the hands that were extended toward her, at a loss for a minute. No one had ever really made that sort of gesture at her before, and she was honestly guessing about her response as she carefully laid her palms flat down against Derek's. "I'm Marta, yeah. It's good to meet you too..." Though the statement almost turned up at the end into a question.
