Live and Breathe: Derek / Marta
It had been another few days at the hospital before she'd been allowed to leave, climbing into the car that Nel had sent, and curling up in the backseat for the drive back to Repose. Being driven somewhere reminded her of Tommy, which made her think of Seven, and she really didn't know what to think about him. Or about Sawyer. That part of her mind was still a jumble, and one that she couldn't quite concentrate on at the moment. Especially not when she had to prepare for yet another new job. That had, apparently, been why they'd kept her a few extra days, since no one could get a hold of Dahl? Marta hoped that everything was okay.
She was given two nights at home to readjust before she was expected at her new job. Receptionist, which was basically what her title had been at the gym, though she'd ended up doing a lot of other stuff there too. She didn't think that a "Light and Oxygen" bar was going to need her to wash towels, but that didn't mean that she wasn't going to have to clean the bathrooms or mop floors or whatever other weird things were needed with light and air. If worst came to worst though, she only had to make it to the beginning of the new year. That was how long the thing with the program lasted, and when she could finally stop getting drug tests and worrying about being sent to prison if she couldn't keep a job. But until then, she would get up early (like she had for Dahl) and walk her ass over to this place to do whatever it was the owner wanted from her. She just hoped it would be more like the gym and less like the motel.
Morning always came too quickly, but Marta was on time as she walked up to Live and Breathe. She'd been told "receptionist", but not really much else, so she'd had to fumble through finding something to wear in a closet that still didn't hold very much. She managed a pair of black skinny jeans (the closest to office pants she had) and an oversized white button-up. Her hair was back in a ponytail and she had black flats on her feet, but that was about all - she wasn't fancy, and she hoped that her new boss didn't expect her to be.
She pushed through the front door of the place about five minutes before the time she'd been told, and then hovered near the entrance as the door closed behind her. Her eyes hadn't quite adjusted from the outside when she called softly: "...hello?"
