Re: Ragnar and Marta: Museum
[[It's okay! there's no rush at all! as long as you're enjoying it, take as much time as you need! Also, I'll probably litter the posts with pictures and nonsense, if you're okay with that? The first one below has corpses on it, I can skip that in future if you're not into it!]]
Ragnar lead Marta around to the first dark room. It wasn't full, there were only a couple of people lingering, looking at a large [[nsfw]] photo across one wall.
"This is Persia," he said quietly. "Around the fifth century CE. They build towers so that they could lay out their dead under the sky to be cleaned by birds and animals. Called a sky burial. Once the bones were clean they would bury them, but before that they believed the bodies would contaminate the earth."
Ragnar gestured to a map on the wall that showed the inside of one of the towers. "They would lay the bodies out there, expose them to the sun and birds. They would bring in dogs to help...dispose of the bodies, too. Then they would be embalmed and buried. It's performed in other cultures, too-" Ragnar turned them once again, hand gently brushing Marta's back very briefly to guide her, looking at another wall with a photo of a temple and blocks of text. "It's used by Buddhists, mostly, to help aid in reincarnation, encouraging the cycle of life. I suppose it is a lot more natural this way, don't you think?"
