The past day had been a blur. No, worse than a blur. Some sort of jumbled mess of nightmares all rolled into one. A series of terribly impossible events kept hitting her with every new bit Obediah had tried to explain to her. She had died. People were coming back to life in a non-zombie way. Tonks was alive. The government was slowly losing it's mind over people. She was alive, again. She should probably think about reporting to the government that was slowly falling apart about people coming back from the dead. It was a lot to take in in under 24 hours, naturally. Somewhere in the midst of needing another mental break in another lengthy conversation with Obediah, he'd reached out to Tonks. Even though they were quite well versed in a world where the impossible was a daily occurrence, this was just a step beyond what was believable. It had to have been a bad joke somehow orchestrated by Obediah for a reason she couldn't properly figure out yet. A coma? Seemed a lot less shitty than dying in a bloody car accident. As soon as she heard a knock on the door, Trinity tensed. She knew Obediah wouldn't do something so shitty as to call whatever government people handled the dead-not-dead people. But his assertion that it was likely Tonks was also not to be believed. She walked cautiously to the door, half expecting some sort of surprise waiting for her on the other side of it. The surprise, of course, was that it really was Tonks standing on the other side of it. A blank look crossed Trinity's face as she stared at the woman on the other side of the threshold. A million realities hit her all in one go: all of those truths Obediah had been trying to impress on her since she'd shown up on his door sometime the night before. She'd died, they'd both inexplicably come back. The swell of emotions hit her square in the chest, stealing her breath from her and causing her eyes to water as she stood frozen in the doorway. |
