Welcome to our first meme! To kick things off, let's do a little brainstorming. This is an activity to think about character relations and the directions we might want to take them in once the game opens. The rules are simple:
➝ Comment with your character, putting their name in the subject line (if you don't have a journal for them yet, that's fine, you can use a CDJ or unrelated one)
➝ Fill out the sections below.
➝ Comment on other people's characters.
➝ You don't have to have a character accepted to post with them – everybody who wants to join in and plot potential stuff can. This is a good space for testing out new characters you might be unsure about to see what kind of connections and plots they might have in game.
➝ Comment like crazy.
GUIDELINES
where they've been. This section is a bullet point list that basically answers the question: where might people know your character from? Think: school years & houses, places they've lived, places they've worked, groups they've been involved in, sides of the war they've been associated with, press articles about them, rumours that may be floating around etc.
where they'll go. This section is for you to suggest things you'd like to do and see with your character. Think: potential relationships you'd like to form, what character growth you might want to get at, what plots you might want to involve them in, what their priorities are, stuff you think might be cool/sad/funny to explore etc.
commenting. As a good rule of thumb, if one of your characters has the same bullet point in their first section (same year at school? their work in the ministry overlapped? they live nearby?) you should try to comment. Even if it's only to say "x character is vaguely aware of y character and thinks they're a bit of a dick". It's a good idea to get a sense of these smaller interactions and relationships, and you never know what plots might grow from them! Similarly, if you see something somebody else has listed in the second section that your character could be involved in (a request for friends, a specific plot idea that might be relevant to them) drop them a line!
