It was over a week since the break-up and when he was not on classes or prefect patrols, Shin had spent the majority of his time in the library. At first he manage to convince himself that he really wasn't sulking and just catching up on the things he'd missed while sick, but when he realised he was three chapters ahead on all his subjects and also had time to learn a new Paganini violin solo, Shin knew he didn't have that excuse anymore. But it was hard to stop hiding away, even though he knew withdrawing from his friends and just bottling up his feelings wasn't the best idea (he didn't even need Libby to tell him that). Without quidditch, he didn't have an outlet for his feelings anymore and not one that involved associating with others. The prefect meetings didn't count since he was always polite there, and just flying around currently reminded him of flights with Lydia which would once again lead to the questioning and self-blame he wanted to escape from.
Standing by the edge of the lake, he breathed out slowly and stared out at the flat surface. It hurt that Lydia seemed to be getting on with life without any problems, although he was genuinely glad she wasn't unhappy - or didn't seem to be. Not suprising she's relieved though. Considering how I've been behaving. He bent and picked up a smooth, round stone which he sent skipping across the water, causing ripples to marr the water. At least he'd made steps to fix the Quidditch issue, but that didn't stop him from still feeling depressed. Perhaps knowing the Halloween party was coming up and he'd been looking forward to attending it with his girlfriend was the cause.
Picking up another stone, he tossed it up and down in his hand and then curved his fingers, readying it for throwing.
