"Well then I guess it really sucks to be us instead of just mostly sucks," Joey replied, wrinkling her nose and shielding her eyes from the sun. Steve's response to her question, though, gave way to a strange look. "Where the hell do you work?" she asked. Then, she held up a hand and shook her head. "You know what? Not important. It makes you look jacked, so I don't want to piss you off, anyway," she remarked with a ghost of a smile that seemed to disappear almost as fast as it cropped up.
Joey followed Steve's glance with one of her own and then looked back at him, frowning. "I'm guessing 'no' isn't really an option, is it?" she asked, her brow creasing a little. "Let's go then. ...we make a great pair, looking the way we do right now," she quipped lamely, waiting for him to take the lead because God knew she wasn't the type to.
