There was still enough of Sarah inside the purple-clad water nymph that she was aware of what was going on in the journals and vaguely of the people who were writing in them. They needed to relax, she thought, they were going to upset themselves over nothing. A little blast from the past never hurt anyone, did it? Except, well. It did, the Sarah caught inside would've reasoned if she was at the surface enough to do so; blasts from the past could kill you, she thought, because that was what had happened to her. The scantily clad nymph rose from the water and into the air, circling the lake with wings flapping gently in the breeze. No, what these people needed was the best cure for everything: just a little bit of affectionate attention. She flitted back down to the grass, lying down in it and taking a deep breath as she looked up at the clouds as they passed. A soft melody started to flow from her lips as she reveled in the sensation of the sun on her skin. Sarah sat up again and moved to the water's edge, lowering her feet into it as she continued to sing. The answer to everyone's problems was so simple and it confused her that they were so wrapped up in them that they hadn't thought how easy it would be to solve them. Turning her face toward the sun, Sarah sang the quiet song again, looping it over itself with a serenity that came with being at the water's edge. There was nowhere, really, she'd rather be, not now. |
