Jesse laughed a little when she said she'd blame him if it snowed. "I'll take the blame," he told her with a little smirk. "I'll even offer up my body heat in consolation," he teased, flashing her a grin because it was easier to flirt than think about the horrible things that the bastards that had them in a human cage could do to them. He knew that his worst ideas probably didn't even come close.
He was thankful she didn't ask about his work. He didn't want to lie to the woman but he certainly didn't want to tell the truth either. Technically he was a damn murdering drug pusher and he doubted if cute little nurse chick Joey would want anything to do with a guy like him if she knew the truth. He let his complicated history just take a backseat and focused instead on what she had to say about Starfleet.
The more she talked, the more confused he became. "And I thought the grass was insane," he said, shaking his head. The place just got more trippy the more he learned. "No, nothing makes sense here, that's for damn sure. Maybe they want us to feel like we're crazy," he said. "Or maybe they just want us to realize that there's more out there than we realize. I don't know." He shrugged and let out a breath. "Guess we just gotta deal with it until someone figures out how to get out of here."
