Sam's explanation left Joey feeling more confused about the situation than she felt when she first got there, but she paused, as if waiting for something more specific. Essentially, his solution was to starve the woman to keep her from spreading whatever she had to others and that didn't sit terribly well with Joey. The fact that he seemed confident, if upset, by it unsettled the girl even more, her eyes shifting back to Gretel's door uneasily before returning to Sam.
The way that he trailed off, failing to finish his sentence in reference to how to deal with her if this didn't blow over on its own sent a chill down Joey's spine and she gave a sharp intake of breath, letting it out shakily.
Finally, she lowered herself to sit down beside Sam, pushing away the thought of the inappropriately-timed butterflies in her stomach when her shoulder inadvertently brushed his as she settled herself next to him on the floor. "...are you okay...?" she finally asked, not sure how, really, to respond to anything else he'd said.
