Teagan's first on the stairs. Maybe it's caution on Rodeo's part. Maybe it just wound up that way. Teagan hasn't even considered it. But when he talks she pauses right there, two steps lowers and therefore so miniscule compared to the big tall blond. She's not large, not actually. It's her will and her way that makes her larger than life.
It's a thought she's had, this. Did they strike to deep and too fast? A thought you can't help to have when two of your own find tragedy.
No! Why is her mind already made up?...Why is she so resolved to a bad outcome?
Her guts are churning.
"No baby...Kodiak and Ibs would have given anything to see Little Sister and Charlie back home. Anything." they continue on down and he's still unsure, she can sense it in his slow, languid movements as the descend into the darkness. It never crossed her mind once that it could be he's afraid of what he might find out about her when they reach the bottom step. When they get to the bottom there's only her flashlight and it's an eery blue tinged LED that lights them up. It's enough for her to see him, to see his face and to swallow up his broken heart.
She touches his face- a palm to his cheek, a thumb smoothing out his eyebrows. It's not something Teagan is prone to do but her heart is breaking for him and if she could, she'd let whatever it is that's crushing him crush her instead.
"What's wrong? You're shattered baby. Let me find all the pieces."
