Very precisely, Adelaide tears the corner from the bag of candy, and she plucks out a red one. It's been ages and ages since she's had these - not because she doesn't like them, but she never really could bring herself to ask anybody to look out for some in their travels. She looks all kinds of pleased with it now, though, and she's also noticing that lighter, how it's the same one she remembers him having, since always. Sarge is consistently consistent, and the fact makes Addie's achey heart feel maybe just a touch lighter.
Adelaide has noticed something over time, a pattern to talking with Sarge. She's noticed that in the things he says, there are often two different threads that can be picked up and followed - and she's also noticed that the one that seems the most unassuming, the one that is emphasized all the less, is usually the one with the most hiding under it. So when he talks about the Capitol Adelaide smiles and shakes her head to agree with him, but then she quirks her brow, draws her knees up and wraps her arms around, while she turns her head and watches his profile. "What makes you say that about his timing?" she asks.
