Realizing he has been playing with a cigarette to the point that tobacco crumbs begin to fall out Sarge stops himself and begins to pick them off his jeans to try and stuff them back before he lights it with his battered Jack Daniels zippo he has had forever. He vaguely remembers stealing it off someone when he was about fifteen but the details are a little fuzzy by now. Not that it matters, the previous owner is probably dead by now.
It doesn't escape his notice how Addie touches the bag of candy and he does feel a little relieved that she is not laughing at him or getting annoyed because she is too old for this now. Is she? The fact that she didn't stay sixteen all these years is still unnerving.
