Teagan, Olivia, and Maizie - October 3, 11:30PM
It was insane just how much there was to see at the Dog Park's carnival party. Maizie had been keeping a running list in her her head -- eat this, see that, ride on whatever's over there -- and even a couple hours in, there was still a lot of stuff left on it. How on earth the Hellhounds had pulled all this together was a mystery, too. Back in the day carnivals had always seemed to arrive from out of nowhere, the tents and rides just suddenly appearing at the fairgrounds where they hadn't been the day before. Obviously they originated from someplace, though, and wherever that was, the Hellhounds had found it. And transported it through geek-infested Austin to set the whole thing up on the Greenbelt.
It was a fricking October miracle from the Great Pumpkin. Well, if the Great Pumpkin went around on a motorcycle and called himself the Dog King, anyway.
Maizie and Liv were strolling down the makeshift midway, splitting a bag of cotton candy (cotton candy! who knew such a thing still existed?), when Maizie spotted a familiar figure just ahead of them. "Teagan!" She turned to Liv, eyes lighting up. "C'mon, let's catch up to her so I can introduce you guys."
Without waiting for a response, Maizie started to pull Liv through the crowd, careful not to lose hold of her slightly-tipsy friend as they went. "Teagan!" she called out, once they were close enough that the older woman might conceivably hear her over the crowd. Anybody watching wouldn't have had the least idea that they last time these two had seen each other was on the second-worst day of Maizie's life. There was no dark shadow hanging over her tonight, though, and by the time she and Liv had managed to reach Teagan, she was grinning from ear to ear. "I was hoping to find you tonight!" A hug was totally appropriate right? Whatever. Maizie went for it, embracing Teagan.
