Re: Derek and Ruth - September 8th
"I ain't from Texas," Ruth replied, rolling her shoulder in a half-shrug. Sure, she'd been living here in Austin for years before the world fell apart, but it had never supplanted Nevada as home. Nowadays, the only thing that really kept her tied to the city was the fact that there weren't any better options. "Insult it all you want."
Some might've found comfort in knowing, at least, that they weren't the last living people left on earth, but Ruth simply nodded. "Don't think we need any more mouths to feed, personally, so it's probably just as well. Can't say I blame them for being wary, either." It wasn't a far trip back in her memory to the days before she'd come to the Park, of having to scrabble for every little thing just to get by. At least the city hadn't completely run out of places to loot yet, thin as the pickings were starting to get. In a small town? She couldn't imagine what the residents were surviving on.
"Want me to take this back to the hangars?" Ruth nodded to the box of seeds. "Or you want to bring it in yourself? Show it to Rodeo first, maybe."
