WHO: Arden and Ezra WHERE: Downtown Austin WHAT: En route to subway. Messing around first because she's weird. WHEN: Wednesday evening of May 27th at 8:31 PM. STATUS: Complete
She was taking her time settling into the town.
It frustrated her bodyguard, but it was not within his rights to question her decisions. She didn't feel the need to rush, to become a member of this quaint society of survivors. Blending in was the least of her concerns. She wanted to scope out the region first, gather information on its inhabitants, see what her options were.
It'd been a week since she'd arrived here. From what she had accumulated so far, Austin was divided between three different shelters, two conflicting groups of raiders, and one school of figli. The shelters and the school were immediately discarded as potential choices. They were too structured, too annoying. It'd left her with the two opposing groups.
She could, of course, continue to remain outside of it. Find an abandoned depot and call it her own, but where would the fun be in that? Her entertainment had already been taken away from her when she was dragged out of New York. She deserved at least some amusement here. The atmosphere was also a problem. She needed good fortification from the blister gas. She had also never been very fond of the heat.
Between the Hellhounds and the Ghouls, a subway seemed much more appealing than anything above ground, especially given all the warnings she'd received against it. And, based on what her bodyguard had found out, it was currently a society without a leader. This could only mean chaos if the rumors about it were true — a slum made up of nothing but misfits and junkies. It sounded absolutely perfect. She was going to have fun down there.
But, true to her nature, Arden was still in no hurry to enter its depths. She wanted to explore the town more. With her arms spread out, she balanced herself as she stepped on the white stripes in the middle of the desolate road. A sweet melody rose from her throat in the form of a soft hum as her eyes flickered between the names of torn down shops back down to the gravel beneath her feet. She had sent her guard to find more food before they go underground. So, for the time being? She was just going to mess around.
