A small smirk played on her face when he mentioned the song. Someone with decent taste in this city! Nodding she said, "Yeah, like the Beatles song. But I tend to go by 'Pen' as a nickname. 'Penny' can be a bit weak and girlish." But either way, Penelope didn't completely care in the end.
It was clear the guy hadn't expected her to hand over the gauze like that. Maybe he wasn't used to kindness like this? Penelope didn't know. But she did often try to make a genuine effort to help others despite restrictions. She knew that kindness could possibly lead to others taking advantage of her. It had happened enough times already during her travels. But she refused to let the zombie situation break her.
"You're welcome!" she said, happily.
Understanding that was all the details she was going to get out of him, Penelope gave a one-shoulder shrug. "Well, I live over at the medical center," she told him. "I was asking 'cause if you needed any help, I could see what I could do for you and your sister. I mean, even if you don't want to take me up on it now. The offer stands."
