She's heard enough stories around camp to understand just how loved Vic's late wife was (and still is). When she started staying with him last month, it really had started out innocent. She was just upset and when she didn't want to be alone, he offered to let her crash with him that night. Ever since she arrived at the Dog Park, she and Vic have had a special connection, probably because they both grew up in New York City and could speak Russian. She'd never meant to stay longer than the first night but they'd fallen into a routine together and it just semeed to work for them. The kissing was an unexpected turn, but one Marina has been happy with. It's been a slow build, but just like her instant connection with Vic, this new thing between them feels just as natural.
"If he wants something more, it's not like I'm going anywhere," Marina shrugs before taking another sip of her coffee. Most of the other patches around camp have noticed her closeness with Vic and she hasn't spent a night with anyone else in a while but it's not something she's upset about. Either something will happen further with Vic or she'll move back to her own tent and that will be that. No use in worrying about it.
"Yeah, it's not like there are a lot of these floating around anymore. And even if anyone else was listening in, most of them only speak Spanish. We used a couple channels depending on who we were trying to reach. Go to 9. That was the emergency channel. Should get their attention. That's what we want, right?"
