"Useful," Isaac echoes back, letting a silence fall between them for a few moments and he thinks over the word. Addie is the Council President's wife. She's a new(ish) mother. Given her position at the Capitol, she could have either found a more prestigious job or chosen to focus on raising her son, but instead she decided that filing down at the DoR was the best use of her time.
Of all their discussion, this is the part that doesn't sit quite right with him. It's just a weird feeling he has, but trusting your gut is often an important factor in lawyer-ing. Still, maybe it was the easiest job she could do with Charlie. There were all kinds of baby wearing things and at least papers don't mind when babies cry. Isaac had been a father once. He knew it was a challenge to multitask with little ones.
Deciding that that must be it -- because Isaac knows Addie and she wouldn't lie to him, right? -- he nods his head then reaches out to close his file folder. "Thanks for your time today, Addie. I'll see what we can do to get you and Charlie outta here, okay?"
