The voice barks across the gym, echoing and sharp. Rodeo's eyes snap to the sound, and he finds himself staring at the raised barrel of a patrolman's gun. The man in his black fatigues is flanked by four others, who filter in through the door behind the first with their hands on the grips of the pistols in their belts. Automatically Rodeo's hand reaches back for Crow Jane, but two more patrolmen raise their weapons before his hand can make it and he stops, raising both hands up where they can be seen.
"Don't fuckin' do it," the patrolman orders in response to Rodeo's initial grab for his weapon. His eyes flash over to Lita, though his weapon stays pointed at Rodeo. "You too. Hands up. Step back. Let us see both your hands, now."
"Hey, partner," Rodeo says, doing the opposite of what the patrolman orders, stepping forward so that he's partially blocking Lita instead of stepping away from her. "How 'bout you lower that Glock and go on and find somebody worth hasslin'. The lady and I, we ain't causin' no trouble."
"Yeah, I don't think so," the patrolman says, shaking his head. He glances to his comrades, then nods towards the pair, and two of the patrolmen move forward with their guns trained on Lita and Rodeo. The one who comes up to Lita holsters his gun before he pats her down to look for weapons, but the one approaching Rodeo isn't willing to take the risk. He circles around to Rodeo's back and presses his gun to the back of Rodeo's head, finger on the trigger as he takes Crow Jane from the back of Rodeo's jeans and the ka-bar from the sheath on his belt.
"This really necessary?" Rodeo asks through clenched teeth, lifting his chin in defiance, looking far more pissed off than afraid when he feels the gun pressed to the back of his head. He glances over towards Lita, and there's no mistaking the fury that darkens those expressive eyes that had been glowing with happiness just a few moments ago as he watches the patrolman start to pat her down. "Watch it," he snarls, heated with a jealous wrath. The patrolman only seems to take pleasure in Rodeo's anger, taking his time as he runs his hands down Lita's sides.
"Relax. I'll treat her right," the patrolman sneers, his smirk only widening as he sees the fury building in Rodeo.
